Larry is a retired school teacher and newspaper reporter.

He holds a BA from Mount St. Vincent University and a B.Ed. from Dalhousie University. He spent ten years teaching in First Nations schools in northern Quebec and northern Ontario.

Larry has run for the NDP several times in Nova Scotia and PEI, and was the PEI NDP leader for three years in the 1990s.

Born in Bedford, Larry now lives in Cumberland County where he is an active community volunteer in the Oxford area. He is the father of four children, three of whom are living and working in Nova Scotia.
